As colder weather sets in, many households notice it takes longer for hot water to reach distant fixtures, which is often a sign of a recirculation issue. The right Grundfos recirculation pump solves that frustration, keeps callbacks down, and helps contractors deliver a professional install. But not all applications are the same.
Answering three quick questions makes it easier to choose the right solution the first time.
Dedicated Line Systems: When a hot water return line is available, circulator pumps like the Grundfos ALPHA (ECM) or UPS (3-speed) are the go-to choice. They move hot water efficiently through the loop, saving time and energy. Retrofit Systems (No Return Line): For existing homes without a dedicated line, the Grundfos ALPHA Comfort System installs directly on the water heater and uses the cold-water line as a return path — a fast, simple way to deliver hot water to distant fixtures without repiping.
Note: The Comfort PM still requires a dedicated recirculation line, while the ALPHA Comfort System is designed specifically for homes without one.
Whether it’s a high-efficiency ALPHA circulator or a quick-install ALPHA Comfort System, Milford stocks the most common Grundfos recirculation pumps and can quickly order specialty models through our rep network.
